LadyGaga was introduced to performer Lady Starlight during this time in 2007; following her performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in 2007 Gaga was signed by Vince Herbert to Streamline Records which is an imprint from Interscope Records. Gaga was an apprentice songwriter during an apprenticeship with Famous Music Publishing. This firm was later bought by another company and changed its name to Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She was later hired to write songs in support of Britney Spears and labelmates New Kids on the Block and Fergie. At Interscope, singer-songwriter Akon recognized her vocal abilities when she sang a reference vocal for one of his tracks in studio; Akon then convinced Interscope-Geffen-A&M Chairman and CEO Jimmy Iovine to form a joint deal by having her also sign with his own label Kon Live, making her his "franchise player. In 2008, Gaga released her debut album 'The fame' to little radio attention. Gaga was on tour throughout Europe as well as in gay clubs in the US to promote the album - however it was not until her debut single 'Just Dance' came to mainstream attention in 2009 that Gaga made waves on the scene. Gaga was suffering from a labral injury to her right hip. She was taking care of it in secret for several weeks in order that she could go on tour. The singer was unable walk after a concert in Toronto and was suffering from severe pain. The tour was stopped.
